The Universities China Committee in London (UCCL) offers small grants (up to £1.5k) mainly for research visits between China and the UK (deadlines end of February, May, August, October) .


The Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation offers a range of grants for research projects (up to EUR120k) institutional staffing (to EUR140k) research fellowships, doctoral / postdoctoral scholarships, and conference and publication grants.


National Central Library (Taiwan) Centre for Chinese Studies Research Grant Programme. The scheme offers a return economy air fare and a monthly allowance for between 3-12 months, for staff or doctoral students in Chinese Studies undertaking research in Taiwan. 31 May annual deadline. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Taiwan Fellowships

Available to foreign experts and scholars wishing to conduct advanced research on Taiwan, cross-strait relations, mainland China, Asia –Pacific region and Chinese studies at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan for 3-12 month visits. Application deadline: 15th July.


Sino-British Fellowship Trust – Katherine Whitaker Bequest

Annual grant or grants for scholars pursuing studies in Chinese medicine, Tibetan Buddhism, or Chinese Language (Philology, Drama & Poetry, History & Literature).
